Real Madrid want Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku to replace Christiano Ronaldo

Romelu Lukaku is wanted by Real Madrid if Cristiano Ronaldo ends up moving to Manchester United this summer. The Portuguese plunged his future into doubt with his comments following the Champions League final against Liverpool. Ronaldo referred to his current club in the past tense alerting the likes of United to his availability. And now Spanish outlet Diario Gol say Real Madrid bigwig Florentino Perez will demand Lukaku in a swap deal. The Belgian impressed in his first season at Old Trafford, scoring 27 goals in all competitions. New Real boss Julen Lopetegui is said to be a big fan of the United striker.

Atiku, Kwankwaso hold close-door meeting

A former Governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, yesterday visited former Vice President Atiku Abubakar at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja. A source said Kwankwaso, who arrived Atiku’s residence at about 8.30pm, went into a closed-door meeting with the former vice president. The source said that the visit by Kwankwaso was to pay Sallah homage to Atiku who was not in the country during the Eid-el Fitr celebrations. The source said that both leaders also used the occasion of the visit to discuss the state of the nation. The media aide to Atiku, Mazi Paul Ibe, confirmed the visit when contacted. Ibe, however, refused to reveal the details of the meeting.

NIGERIA, AND MOROCCO SIGN ACCOUNTS ON REGIONAL GAS PIPELINE CHEMICAL PLANT, AND AGRIC TRAINING

The Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Kingdom of Morocco on Monday in Rabat, Morocco, signed three agreements, including a regional gas pipeline that will see Nigeria providing gas to countries in West Africa sub-region that extend to Morocco and Europe. The signing of the agreements, witnessed by President Muhammadu Buhari and King of Morocco, His Majesty King Mohammed V1, followed a meeting between the two African leaders that focused on strengthening economic relations in gas resource development, global investments and agriculture training and management. The feasibility study of the agreement on pipeline, which was signed by the Group General Manager, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Farouq Said Garba, and Mrs. Amina Benkhadra, Director General of the National Office of Hydrocarbon and Mines, will be concluded by July 2018.
