....we are prepared for Faleke- Oyegun

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, yesterday, said that the party is prepared for tomorrow’s inauguration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as governor of Kogi State, despite the insistence of his deputy, James Abiodun Faleke, not to attend the ceremony. Odigie-Oyegun, at the APC national secretariat, expressed confidence about the ability of the party to take another action which he refused to disclose during the press briefing. He said: “As a party, we have prepared for every possible contingency in the Kogi situation. So, whatever happens in the next few hours, we are ready for it. There is no question and doubt about that. “I don’t want to go into the details of what will likely happen. That is still between INEC and legal authorities. But just rest confidently, it is sometimes good to be expecting what will happen, keep your gun powder dry and watch.” It would be recalled that deputy governorship candidate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu, rejected the position under Alhaji Bello, claiming that he was the governor-elect. The APC national chairman also confirmed the emergence of Barrister Sharon Ikeazor as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming Anambra Central Senatorial District re-run election, saying that the candidate emerged through “due process.” He dismissed the report that the APC had earlier begged President Muhammadu Buhari for financial support, adding: “Just like the economy, the party is also suffering the stresses and the strains of funding like any other institution in our polity. It just tells you that we are not a party that just withdraws funds from either security votes or government agencies. “….We have not asked for rescue from the president because I saw some reports. That is not part of his national duties. He has no fund from which he can draw to support the party in the way it has been done in the past. The party has to come out to be innovative.”
