Buhari suspend Immigration CG, parradang

President Mohammadu Buhari has suspended the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr. David Shikfu Parradang from office with immediate effect. The President's directive was made known on Friday in a statement signed by the Director of Press of the Ministry of Interior, Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry. The most senior officer of the NIS, Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration Martin Kure Abeshi has been directed to take over the affairs of the office. Daily Trust gathered that the suspension of Mr. Parradang is connected with the arrest of an Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) leader, Imam Ahmed Al-Assir in Lebanon with a valid Nigerian visa. The fugitive terrorist who had been on the watch list of many countries for years before his apprehension was sentenced to death in absentia and had been on the run since 2013. Daily Trust reported on Thursday that the President was embarrassed by the development and had immediately ordered a full scale investigation on how the wanted man got the Nigerian visa. Three Nigerian agencies; the Foreign Affairs ministry, the National Intelligence Agency and the Nigeria Immigration Service involved in the issuance of Visa are presently under investigation. An officer in the ministry of Interior told Daily Trust that more heads will roll as the investigation process continues.
