President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the dissolution of the executive management team of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said this in a statement last night.
Adesina said the president has also approved the reconstitution of the management team of the corporation as follows: Ahmed Lawan Kuru (managing director); Kola Ayeye (executive director); Eberechukwu Uneze (executive director) and Aminu Ismail (executive director).
According to the presidential spokesperson the appointment of Kuru and the three new AMCON executive directors is with effect from August 18, 2015.
Until his appointment yesterday as managing director of AMCON, Kuru was the Group Managing Director of Enterprise Bank Limited.
Kuru started his banking career with the defunct Habib Bank in 1985 and rose through the ranks to become an executive director of Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank) in 2005.
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) was established on July 19, 2010, when former President Goodluck Jonathan signed the AMCON Act into Law.
The body was created to resolve non-performing loan assets of banks in Nigeria and for related matters.
