Sharks football club of Port Harcourt today compounded the relegation woes of Kwara United football club just as league leader Sunshine Stars FC of Akure maintained their grip of the top spot in the on- going Nigeria Premier League.
Sharks recorded its first away win of the season through Christian Pyagbara goal in the 24th minute of the game against host Kwara, inside the Ilorin Township stadium.
Kwara were not luck to level up in the 44th minute of the game as Dare Ojo could not score from a spot kick.
In Akure, table topper Sunshine Stars defeated Bayelsa United FC 2-0 to push their points to 33 with goals from Kingsley Eduwo and Tunde Adeniyi in the first minute and 69th minute of the game respectively.
Wikki Tourist moved to the second position with a 2-1 victory against El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri in Bauchi with Mubarak Umar breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute through a pass from Uche Martins to send the home fans into wild jubilations.
Wikki got their second goal in the 57th minute through a spot kick converted by Chukwudi Samuel while Sunday Adetunji reduced the tally for the visitors in the 84th minute of the encounter.
Heartland FC of Owerri defeated Dolphins FC in their adopted home in Oba 3-1 to move from their sixth position to the fourth place with 28 points.
Collins Nwaneri registered his name on the score sheet in the 4th minute of play to put the Naze millionaires on the driving seat, Dolphins equalised in the 53rd minute through Godbless Asamoah goal.

Rangers defeated Lobi Stars 3-1 in Enugu just as Nasarawa United were forced to a one all draw in Makurdi by Ifeanyi Ubah FC.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday interrogated former Governor of Akwa Ibom State Godswill Akpabio over allegation of financial crimes. Daily Trust gathered that Akpabio honoured the invitation by the anti-graft agency to explain allegations of looting of the state’s funds during his tenure. Sources told our correspondent that Senator Akpabio was being interrogated late yesterday evening at the Abuja head offices of the Commission. He was spotted at the EFFC office in company of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Rickey Tarfa, at about 5:20pm. Akpabio’s arrest yesterday is fallout of the petition by an Abuja-based lawyer and activist, Leo Ekpenyong, who had on June 8 this year petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and the EFCC, calling for Senator Akpabio’s probe and accusing him of looting.
